Miles Silverberg

Miles Silverberg is the boyishly young executive producer of the news magazine FYI, tasked with wrangling a newsroom of seasoned, famous journalists who are older, louder, and far less inclined to take orders than he is. He is anxious, exacting, and perpetually undermined, especially by Murphy Brown, whom he both manages and fears.

The joke is built into his job title: a man barely out of his twenties nominally in charge of people who could be his parents. Grant Shaud plays the panic with real precision, all clipped sentences and rising pitch, so that his authority always looks like it might crack. Watching him hold the line against Murphy is half the show's comic engine.
