Mildrith

Mildrith enters Uhtred's life as a marriage arranged for land and standing rather than love — a devout Saxon gentlewoman handed over along with her father's estate. She prays where he swears, flinches from his violence, and tries to build a Christian household around a husband who barely believes in her God or her world.

The show could have made her a footnote to Uhtred's story, but Amy Wren plays the mismatch honestly: Mildrith's piety and domestic order aren't weakness, they're the only power available to a woman traded into a marriage she didn't choose. Her discomfort with Uhtred is quietly telling rather than shrill.
