Mike "Wags" Wagner

Mike "Wags" Wagner is Bobby Axelrod's right-hand man at Axe Capital, part compliance officer, part consigliere, part court jester. He speaks in profane riddles, tests loyalty with strange rituals, and seems to know everything happening inside the firm before Axe does. Beneath the theatrics sits a sharp, watchful mind fiercely devoted to protecting his boss.

David Costabile plays Wags as a man performing his own eccentricity as armor, and the writing lets him get away with lines no one else could sell — odes to peacocking, filthy toasts, sudden bursts of surprising tenderness. He's the show's release valve and its conscience, often in the same scene, and Costabile never lets the comedy erase the intelligence underneath.
