Matthias Helvar

Matthias Helvar is a Fjerdan witchhunter turned prisoner, a man built by his country's faith to see Grisha as monsters worth destroying. Raised as a drüskelle, he is disciplined, devout, and unbending in his convictions—until his history with the Grisha girl Nina Zenik puts everything he believes under unbearable strain.

Calahan Skogman plays Matthias as a man at war with himself, letting flickers of doubt cross a face trained toward certainty. The writing hands him the hardest kind of arc—unlearning hatred without cheapening how sincerely he once held it—and the performance sells both the zealot and the man beginning to question him.
