Marulk

Marulk is a soft-spoken boy who keeps house at Ozen's outpost deep in the Abyss, cooking meals and tending to exhausted travelers with quiet, practiced care. Orphaned and self-sufficient, he seems almost too calm for the dangers around him, offering warmth and competence to whoever passes through, including Riko and Reg.

The writing uses his gentle, domestic normalcy as a deliberate contrast to the abyss's horrors, and Aki Toyosaki plays that composure just slightly too evenly, letting small cracks of something unspoken show through his hospitality. It's a performance built on restraint, making his kindness feel oddly unsettling rather than simply sweet.
