Mark Scout

Mark works at Lumon Industries, where he has volunteered to have his memory surgically split in two: one version of him lives, the other only works. On the severed floor he is a mild, dutiful team lead, chipper with his coworkers, quietly hollowed out beneath the surface — a man who does not know what he is hiding from.

Adam Scott plays two people who are the same face wearing different weather: outside, a grief-numbed man going through motions; inside, an oblivious innocent trying to be good at a job that means nothing. The comedy of his workplace cheer and the sadness underneath never cancel each other out, and that tension is the whole show.
