Mark Latimer

Mark Latimer runs the family plumbing business in the small coastal town of Broadchurch and is, as far as anyone can tell, an ordinary husband and father. He is easygoing, well-liked, a bit distracted by work — until the death of his son tears the ordinary life open and leaves him grasping for how to grieve.

Andrew Buchan plays a grief that curdles into something less comfortable to watch than tears — anger, suspicion, a marriage buckling under the weight of two people mourning differently. The writing refuses him easy sympathy, and Buchan makes Mark's rawness feel unrehearsed, a man discovering he doesn't know how to survive this.
