Marina Thompson

Marina arrives at the Featherington house as a poor relation, taken in out of family obligation, and quickly becomes a puzzle to the daughters who must share their season with her. She is beautiful, guarded, and strangely uninterested in the marriage market's usual games, moving through Regency drawing rooms with a composure that reads as either serenity or desperation.

Ruby Barker plays Marina as a woman performing calm while something urgent churns underneath, and the show lets you feel the mismatch before it explains it. She's warm to the Featherington girls even while clearly using them, which makes her sympathetic and unsettling in the same breath — a rare thing in a genre built on tidy villains and heroines.
