Maria Ross

Maria Ross is a First Lieutenant in Amestris's military, sharp-eyed and steady, drawn into the investigation surrounding Maes Hughes's death alongside Denny Brosh. She is dutiful and clear-headed, the kind of officer who follows procedure but still asks the questions her superiors would rather not answer.

She gives the show's sprawling military intrigue a human, unglamorous anchor — an ordinary soldier trying to do right inside a corrupt chain of command. Kaori Nazuka plays her with brisk professionalism rather than sentiment, so when the plot tightens around her, the tension comes from watching competence collide with power far above her rank.
