Marcel drifts through Futurama's crowded universe as one of its many one-scene eccentrics, popping up with a distinct voice and a narrow, specific purpose before vanishing back into the show's teeming background. He speaks with conviction about whatever small thing he cares about, treating it as if it matters enormously.

Maurice LaMarche built a career on exactly this kind of role, and Futurama gives him room to drop in a fully formed voice for a character who might only get a few lines. The commitment is total even when the screen time is not, which is the show's whole comic philosophy in miniature.
