Makima

Makima runs a Public Safety division devoted to hunting devils, and she is the one who takes an interest in Denji, offering him food, a bed, and the promise of an ordinary life if he works for her. She speaks softly, smiles easily, and never seems to raise her voice or lose her composure.

Kusunoki's performance is all measured warmth, a voice that stays gentle no matter what she's asking of someone, and that gentleness is precisely what makes her impossible to read. The writing keeps her motives opaque behind pleasant small talk, so every scene she's in carries a low hum of unease beneath the kindness.
