Mai Zen'in

Mai Zen'in is a member of the prestigious but rigid Zen'in clan, saddled with almost no cursed energy in a family that worships it. She fights instead with construction tools that materialize from thin air, aims with unnerving precision, and greets the world with a flat, unimpressed stare. Her twin sister Maki is the one person she seems to actually care about.

Mai reads as bored and brittle, but Marina Inoue keeps a current of real bitterness under the deadpan — she's someone who has been told her whole life she's worthless and has decided to believe it first, before anyone else gets the satisfaction. That quiet self-erasure, set against her fierce protectiveness of Maki, gives her far more weight than her limited screen time suggests.
