Maarva Andor

Maarva Andor in Andor (2022), played by Fiona Shaw.

Maarva raised Cassian on Ferrix and still watches over him like a hawk, even as her body slows and her patience for corporate occupiers thins. A junk-shop fixture and neighborhood conscience, she is sharp-tongued, fiercely loyal, and quietly radicalized by a lifetime of watching her town get squeezed.

Fiona Shaw plays her as someone whose frailty is a disguise for steel — every scolding aside carries decades of buried anger. The show trusts her silences as much as her speeches, and Shaw fills them with the weary clarity of a woman who has already decided what she believes long before anyone asks her to say it aloud.

Maarva Carassi Andor was a human female who lived during the final decades of the Galactic Republic and into the era of the Galactic Empire. On her homeworld, Maarva was a member of the Daughters of Ferrix and was revered by the members of her community. Alongside her husband, Clem, Maarva became the adoptive mother of Cassian Andor, whom they rescued while scavenging on the planet Kenari.
