Lyndon B. Johnson's Head

A disembodied head kept alive in a jar in the year 3000, LBJ appears as one of many preserved American presidents summoned for ceremonial or bureaucratic occasions. He speaks with folksy, blunt bravado, unbothered by having no body, and treats his diminished, jarred existence as barely worth remarking on.

The joke is the flat acceptance: a towering political figure reduced to a talking jar, delivered with total nonchalance. John DiMaggio's gravelly, no-nonsense delivery sells the absurdity straight rather than winking at it, which is funnier than mockery would be. It's a small piece of Futurama's running gag that history's giants end up as background furniture in the future.
