Lt. Nathaniel Fick

Lieutenant Nathaniel Fick leads Bravo Company's second platoon of Recon Marines into Iraq, a young officer trying to do right by the men under him while absorbing orders from a chain of command that doesn't always deserve his trust. Calm, watchful, and unshowy, he listens more than he talks and takes the job seriously without pretending to love it.

Stark Sands plays competence as a quiet, almost withholding thing, which makes Fick the show's moral center without ever turning him into a speech-giver. The writing trusts him to react in small, exact gestures — a glance, a clipped question up the radio — and that restraint is what makes his frustration, when it finally surfaces, land so hard.
