Lt. Arthur Fancy

Lieutenant Arthur Fancy commands the 15th Precinct squad room, a Black officer overseeing a mostly white, often unruly team of detectives in early-90s New York. He is measured, exacting, and unwilling to let bigotry or sloppiness slide, holding his own against Sipowicz's temper and the department's politics without raising his voice.

McDaniel gives Fancy a watchful stillness that reads as authority rather than reticence, letting the character absorb racial tension and institutional pressure without ever becoming a symbol instead of a man.
