Louise turns up at the Danebury Metal Detecting Club with a loud laugh and no shortage of confidence, keen to be part of the gang whether they're quite ready for her or not. She's sociable, blunt, and enjoys the company of the club's oddballs more than the actual detecting.

Laura Checkley plays her with a big, unembarrassed warmth that cuts nicely against the show's more mild-mannered, quietly awkward Englishmen. She's a jolt of noise and directness dropped into a world of polite murmuring, and the contrast is where a lot of the comedy lives.
