Lord Featherington

Lord Featherington is the harried patriarch of a family desperate to climb London's social ladder despite thinning finances. He hovers at the edges of ballrooms, chasing investments and favors, eager to marry off his three daughters well. Genial on the surface, he's a man visibly out of his depth among the ton's sharper players.

Ben Miller plays him with a nervous, ingratiating energy that turns comic relief into something more pointed — a portrait of genteel desperation dressed up as bonhomie. The writing lets him bumble through Regency propriety while hinting at pressures he can't quite manage, and Miller never lets the smile fully cover the strain underneath.
