Alice Lowe plays every scene as though she's in a completely different, much better show than the one falling apart around her, which is precisely the joke. Her flat, knowing delivery against the show's deliberate incompetence makes Liz the calmest person in a hospital where nothing about the writing, acting, or reality itself can be trusted.
