Ling Yao

Ling Yao in Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood (2009), played by Mamoru Miyano.

Ling Yao arrives in Amestris as one of twelve royal children of Xing's emperor, trailed by his fiercely loyal bodyguards Lan Fan and Fu. He's hunting the secret of immortality, both for his ailing father's throne and his own ambitions, but he treats the quest with a grin, a bottomless appetite, and an easy, disarming charm.

He plays against type immediately: a prince who claims he only wants power out of pure self-interest, yet keeps proving, through small unglamorous acts of loyalty and sacrifice, that he means something better than he admits. Miyano gives him a rascally, food-loving lightness that makes his sudden bursts of ruthless cunning and genuine nobility land harder.

Ling Yao (リン・ヤオ, Rin Yao), also spelled as Lin Yao, is the twelfth crown prince of the eastern nation of Xing and the liege of the Yao clan. Seeking a way to ensure his path to the throne amidst deadly inter-house competition, Ling has ventured from Xing to Amestris in order to divine the secret of immortality - the Philosopher's Stone.
