Leslie Stevens

Leslie Stevens is a senior partner at the advertising agency where Dre works, a genial company man perched near the top of the org chart. He means well, mostly, and wants everyone to get along — he just has a habit of saying the wrong thing about race with total, cheerful confidence.

The show uses him as a pressure valve: every time Dre has to explain something obvious about Black life to white colleagues, Leslie is usually the one who needs it explained. MacKenzie plays the obliviousness without malice, so the jokes land on the gap between his sincerity and his blind spots rather than on cruelty.
