Leela is the sharp-eyed career counsellor who zaps new arrival Fry into a job he never applied for, then abandons her post to join his ragtag crew. Capable, blunt, and visibly the only competent person in most rooms, she flies the ship, throws the first punch, and rolls her single eye at everyone's nonsense.

Katey Sagal gives her a dry, weary authority that keeps the show's chaos from floating away — she's the gravity, not the joke. The writing lets her be tough without flattening her: lonely about her unknown origins, quick to fight, slow to trust, funny almost by accident. She anchors every disaster with genuine competence.
