Williams plays Laura with real comic timing, grounding the show's growing zaniness in something recognizably teenage: vanity, exasperation, flashes of genuine kindness she'd rather not admit to. The push-pull between her practicality and Urkel's chaos gives the series its central engine, and she never lets Laura become just a straight-man setup.
