Lassie's Head

A relic of 20th-century television, Lassie survives into the 31st century the way every celebrity does on Futurama: as a disembodied head bobbing in a jar of preservative fluid. The famous collie is trotted out for cameo gags and museum-piece appearances, dignity fully intact despite the indignity of the format.

The joke is the premise doing all the work — a beloved, wholesome dog reduced to a talking jar is exactly the kind of deadpan absurdity Futurama built its universe on. Maurice LaMarche's vocal texture gives even a background sight gag a flicker of genuine character, which is why the show's smallest jokes land as hard as its biggest ones.
