Lars Fillmore

Lars Fillmore turns up in a parallel universe aboard a box within a box, and he looks unsettlingly like Fry — if Fry wore glasses and had actually grown up. Calm, articulate, and quietly protective of that universe's Leela, he watches the Planet Express crew with an amused, knowing patience that Fry himself never manages.

Billy West doing a soft, measured variation on Fry's own voice is the joke and the ache of it: the writing dares you to wonder what Fry could become with a little more time and confidence, then lets that thought sit uncomfortably next to the person you already love. It's a quiet piece of vocal acting hiding inside a sci-fi gag.
