Larry David

A semi-retired television writer with money and time on his hands, Larry spends his days pursuing small grievances and social infractions with the seriousness other people reserve for real problems. He is blunt, self-righteous, and incapable of letting anything go, wandering through Los Angeles picking fights over parking, restaurant etiquette, and the unwritten rules everyone else quietly follows.

The trick is that Larry is almost always technically right, which makes his escalations funnier than simple boorishness would. David plays a heightened version of himself with total conviction, never winking at the audience, so the character's outrage feels sincere even at its most petty. Watching him reason his way into disaster, one plausible complaint at a time, never stops being satisfying.
