Land Squid is exactly what the name promises: a tentacled creature glimpsed among Futurama's parade of oddball aliens and monsters, the kind of background menace or curiosity that turns up for a scene or two, reacting on instinct rather than pursuing any grand design of its own.

Billy West's gift for the show has always been throwaway monsters made vivid through voice alone, and a creature like this lives or dies on a single well-pitched growl or bit of guttural comic timing.
