Lance Hornsby

Lance Hornsby arrives as the Commonwealth's smiling front man, the one who finds Maggie's group and dangles the promise of a working society with walls, jobs, and electricity. He talks in the soft cadences of a salesman, all reassurance and paperwork, presenting himself as a helpful bureaucrat rather than anyone with power of his own.

Josh Hamilton plays him as pure surface, a politician's charm with nothing visibly underneath, which is precisely what makes him unsettling in a show usually built on visible threats. The writing uses him to introduce the Commonwealth's central danger: cruelty administered through memos and committees instead of walkers, and Hamilton never lets the mask slip too soon.
