Ladybug

A small, strange presence in the tangled inner world of Big Mouth's kids, Ladybug turns up as one of the show's parade of talking-anxiety figures — odd, unbothered by normal logic, and ready to say the uncomfortable thing out loud. Like most of the puberty-adjacent creatures haunting these hallways, it exists to needle a kid toward some truth they're avoiding.

Big Mouth's trick is stuffing its cast with one-off oddities voiced by the same handful of actors, and Ladybug is a fine example of what that lets Nick Kroll do: drop into a completely different register, tiny and specific, and make a joke land in the fifteen seconds it's given. It's a testament to how much personality this show squeezes out of throwaway characters.
