Lady Catelyn Stark

Catelyn Stark is Lady of Winterfell, wife to Eddard and mother to five children she guards fiercely. She distrusts the bastard boy Jon Snow in her home and grows uneasy when the king comes north bearing honors. Devout, proud, and clear-eyed about politics, she urges caution her husband too often ignores.

Michelle Fairley plays Catelyn's love as a kind of armor, cold to outsiders, ferocious for her own. The writing gives her real political instincts that her family repeatedly overrides at cost, and Fairley makes her grief and fury feel earned rather than shrill, a mother who sees danger clearly and is believed too late.
