Korey Wise

Korey Wise is sixteen, the oldest of the boys swept up in the Central Park jogger case, and he isn't even really a suspect at first — he tags along with a friend to the precinct out of loyalty and gets pulled into the interrogation room anyway, exhausted, frightened, and trying to do right by someone he cares about.

Jharrel Jerome plays Korey across the character's entire adolescence and into manhood, and the performance never loses the through-line of a decent kid absorbing a system built to crush him. The role asks for endurance rather than spectacle, and Jerome finds devastating precision in stillness, in the way Korey holds himself together for other people's sake.
