Kirk

Kirk turns up on the fringes of the Planet Express universe, one of the countless background faces New New York throws up in any given episode. He is not central to the plot he wanders through, existing mostly to fill out a scene, react to the chaos around him, and move the joke along.

Futurama's world is built on exactly these disposable, oddly specific bit players, and David Herman's flair for flat, deadpan line readings gives even a glancing character like Kirk a little comic texture. It's the show's gift for making its smallest corners feel inhabited that makes him worth a laugh.
