King Robert Baratheon

Robert Baratheon rules the Seven Kingdoms with the same appetite he once brought to war, drowning boredom in wine, hunting and other men's wives. He calls old friend Ned Stark south to be his Hand, wanting a man he trusts near the throne. Underneath the bluster sits a king exhausted by peace.

Addy plays Robert as a man swallowed by his own legend, all roaring laughter and self-mockery, funniest exactly when he's most pathetic. The writing lets him confess his own failures as king with startling clarity, and Addy makes that honesty oddly moving rather than simply comic, a big man haunted by the war that made him.
