Kif Kroker

Kif Kroker is Captain Zapp Brannigan's long-suffering first officer, a soft-spoken green alien who does the actual work of running a starship while his commander takes the credit. He answers every indignity with a weary sigh rather than a complaint, and nurses a shy, earnest devotion to Amy Wong.

Maurice LaMarche plays him almost entirely through exhaustion — a single exhaled sigh does more comic work than a page of dialogue could. Kif is the show's quiet moral center, decent and put-upon amid galactic idiocy, and that contrast makes his rare moments of backbone or tenderness land far harder than they should.
