Kevin Weatherill

Kevin Weatherill is a quietly resentful finance manager at a Yorkshire haulage firm, overlooked and underpaid despite years of loyal service. He nurses a grudge against his boss that curdles into something darker, all while presenting as the mildest, most forgettable man in the building. Politeness masks a growing willingness to act on his grievance.

Pemberton plays him as utterly unremarkable, which is the point: Happy Valley is full of violence, but Kevin's is the banal kind, born of office slights and wounded pride rather than malice. Watching an ordinary, put-upon man talk himself into catastrophe is quietly more chilling than any obvious villain the show offers.
