Kenma Kozume

Kenma is Nekoma's setter, a slight, sleepy-eyed boy who would rather be playing video games than almost anything else, volleyball included. He's introduced through his old friendship with Kuroo, dragged along more than driven, low-energy and low-affect, watching the court with sharp, faintly bored eyes that miss nothing.

The show lets his reluctance be real rather than a pose to overcome in one episode — his growing investment in the game is doled out slowly, through small shifts in effort and attention rather than speeches. Yûki Kaji keeps his voice flat and unhurried, which makes the rare moments of sparked interest land with real weight.
