Kaz Brekker

Kaz Brekker runs the Dregs, a gang carving out territory in the Barrel, the criminal underbelly of Ketterdam. He walks with a cane and a limp, trusts no one, and calculates six moves ahead of everybody else. When a job worth a fortune arrives, he assembles a crew for a heist most would call impossible.

Freddy Carter plays him as a closed fist rather than a swagger: still, precise, allergic to sentiment, which makes the rare crack in that control land hard. The writing gives him a code instead of a conscience, gloves he never removes, and a mind for angles — Kaz works because you're never quite sure what he actually feels, only what he's calculated.
