Kate Galvin runs a London art gallery and moves through a glittering, cynical circle of wealthy friends with visible distaste for most of them. Sharp-tongued and guarded, she keeps people at arm's length, including the charming new professor who's caught her eye. She's clever enough to sense something is off about him — and drawn to him anyway.

Ritchie plays Kate as armor over something rawer: the wit is real, but so is the exhaustion of being surrounded by people she can't respect. She gives the character a coiled wariness that makes her one of the few people in Joe's orbit who might actually see him clearly, which is what makes their scenes together crackle.
