Karen Wheeler

Karen Wheeler is Mike's mom, a Hawkins housewife trying to hold an ordinary family together in a town that keeps refusing to stay ordinary. She's warm and watchful, quick to notice when her kids are lying, and quietly restless under the routines of PTA meetings, casseroles, and a marriage that no longer quite fills her.

Cara Buono plays her as someone smart enough to sense that the strange things happening around her house are connected, even when the plot keeps her one step outside the action. The show lets her be more than a worried mom trope — a woman noticing her own life passing her by, played with real interior ache.
