Kaede Rukawa

Kaede Rukawa is Shohoku's star forward, a first-year already good enough to draw scouts and a swarm of admiring classmates he barely notices. He speaks rarely, trains obsessively, and treats basketball with a single-minded seriousness that leaves little room for anything else — including Sakuragi, whose rivalry he mostly ignores.

He's built almost entirely out of restraint: few lines, flat affect, a face that rarely changes. Midorikawa's clipped, low-key delivery makes that silence feel like pressure rather than emptiness, so the rare flicker of effort or annoyance lands hard. Next to Sakuragi's noise, his stillness becomes its own kind of charisma.
