Julius Rock

Julius Rock is Chris's father, a man holding down two or three jobs at once to keep his family fed in 1980s Brooklyn. He is fiercely proud, famously tight with a dollar, and quick to lecture. Love, in his house, looks like discipline, warnings about wasted electricity, and never, ever accepting help.

Terry Crews plays exhaustion and pride as the same muscle, turning Julius's penny-pinching into something both hilarious and quietly heartbreaking — a man refusing to let poverty humiliate him. The show could easily make him a punchline; Crews keeps finding the dignity and terror underneath the cheapness, so every rant about lights left on lands as both joke and love letter.
