Julie Taylor is the coach's daughter, a smart, opinionated teenager navigating a town that lives and breathes football even though she doesn't especially care about it. She's whip-smart, a little superior about it, prone to arguing back, and caught between her parents' expectations and her own restless sense that Dillon might not be big enough for her.

She's the show's built-in skeptic, a girl inside a football town who keeps asking why everyone cares so much, and that friction makes her useful rather than just present. Teegarden plays her prickly intelligence and her hurt feelings with equal conviction, and the writing lets her be wrong, self-righteous, and sympathetic all in the same scene.
