JP is the posh, entitled housemate who assumes charm and privilege will smooth over anything. He arrives at university treating it as an extension of public school, casually rude to those he considers beneath him, oblivious to how he lands. Underneath the bravado sits a boy badly out of his depth, though he'd never admit it.

Whitehall plays the posho-twit type with more shading than the archetype usually gets, letting flickers of insecurity and loneliness show through the bluster. The writing keeps finding fresh ways to humiliate him without losing sympathy, and his rapid-fire putdowns land because he clearly believes his own nonsense completely.
