Joseph Merceron

Joseph Merceron moves through Poldark's Cornish world as a man of business and standing, someone whose word carries weight in rooms where money and reputation decide fates. He is measured and watchful, more inclined to calculate than to declare himself, and it is never quite clear whose interests he is truly serving.

Tim Dutton plays him with a dry, unhurried control that makes every scene feel like a negotiation, even the small talk. The writing keeps his loyalties deliberately unresolved, so viewers watch him the way the other characters do — trying to read a face that gives away only what it chooses to.
