Joseph D. Liebgott

Joseph Liebgott is a paratrooper in Easy Company, quick with a joke and quicker with a grudge, his German-immigrant background giving him a fluency in the enemy's language that makes him useful and uneasy in equal measure. He's sardonic, restless, and never quite lets anyone see how much he feels.

Ross McCall plays him with a coiled, wisecracking energy that reads as bravado covering something rawer underneath. The writing uses his linguistic skill and his temper as the same fuse, and as the war grinds on, the crack in his humor widens into something the show never has to explain aloud.
