John Crichton

An Earth astronaut testing a new theory of gravity, John Crichton gets flung through a wormhole into a distant, hostile corner of the universe. Alone among aliens who've never heard of his planet, he's charming, quick-mouthed, and desperate to get home — using pop-culture references and improvisation to bluff his way through danger he doesn't understand.

Ben Browder plays him as a genuine fish out of water rather than a chosen-one hero: scared, funny, resourceful, in over his head. The writing keeps stripping away his certainties, and Browder lets the wisecracks curdle into something wearier and stranger over time without ever losing the goofy warmth that makes him worth following.
