Jim Halpert

Jim is a sales rep at Dunder Mifflin's Scranton branch, coasting through a job he's outgrown and clearly not that invested in. He spends his days needling his desk-mate Dwight with elaborate pranks and shooting looks at the documentary camera, a running commentary of raised eyebrows aimed squarely at the audience.

The genius is in how little he does. Krasinski turns the camera-look into an art form, a whole performance built on restraint, timing, and the sense of a much smarter guy than his job requires. He's the audience's proxy inside the absurdity, which makes his quieter, sincerer moments land twice as hard when they come.
