Jerry

Jerry is Beth's husband and the father of Morty and Summer, an anxious, underachieving suburban dad who wants respect he rarely gets. Rick treats him as an obstacle at best, a joke at worst, and Jerry mostly absorbs it, clinging to a fragile sense of authority in a house that keeps proving he has none.

Chris Parnell finds the exact pitch of wounded self-importance that makes Jerry funny without making him cruel — every flinch and defensive boast lands as pathetic and human at once. The show uses him as its punching bag, but Parnell keeps him sincere enough that his neediness stings a little every time.
