Jeremy

Jeremy is Mark's flatmate, a would-be musician drifting through his twenties on charm, self-delusion, and other people's money. He wants fame, freedom, and easy pleasure without ever quite working for any of it, sliding through life on a haze of weed, dating schemes, and vague plans for a music career that never starts.

Robert Webb plays Jez's narcissism with total sincerity, so his terrible ideas always sound reasonable to him, which is funnier than any wink to camera. The show's internal-monologue gimmick exposes him constantly, but Webb makes his self-justifications so buoyant and guileless that you root for the disaster.
