Janice

Janice arrives in Mr. Robot as an unassuming Dark Army fixer, the kind of person who talks in a friendly, almost chatty register while doing work that is anything but friendly. She's polite, orderly, and utterly unbothered by the fear she causes, treating cruelty as just another item on a checklist.

Ashlie Atkinson plays her with a cheerful, singsong calm that never cracks, which is far more unsettling than any shouted menace could be. The writing withholds motive and backstory almost entirely, letting her pleasant affect do the work — she's memorable precisely because she never seems to notice she's the scary one.
